  • Assessment typically scheduled within 2-4 weeks of registration
  • Face-to-face meeting at your home (usually 1-2 hours)
  • Discuss your health conditions, daily living needs, and goals

Understanding Your Assessment Results

Within two weeks of your assessment, you'll receive a Notice of Decision letter from My Aged Care outlining your approval for Support at Home services.

Your Notice of Decision Includes:

  • The difference between the 3 service categories and contribution rates
  • How your quarterly budget cycle works

Frequently Asked Questions

Which programme is right for me - CHSP or Support at Home?
CHSP (Commonwealth Home Support Programme) is for entry-level support needs like basic domestic assistance and social support. Support at Home is for more comprehensive care including clinical services, personal care, and complex needs. Our team will help you assess your needs and guide you towards the programme that best suits your situation. Note that CHSP continues until at least July 2027.
Is there really no waiting list anymore?
That's correct! The national waiting list has been completely eliminated under Support at Home. Once you're assessed and approved, you can choose your provider and start services immediately. This is a major improvement from the old Home Care Packages system where people waited months or even years.
What if I'm not eligible for government-funded services?
If you're not eligible for government-funded programmes, RusCare can still help with private care options. We offer all our services on a private fee-for-service basis. Contact us to discuss your needs and we'll develop a care plan that works for you.
Can I change services after I start?
Absolutely! Under Support at Home, you can adjust your service mix at any time within your quarterly budget. If your needs change significantly, you can also request a re-assessment to review your classification level. We conduct regular quarterly reviews but changes can be made whenever needed.
How long does the whole process take?
From initial contact to receiving services typically takes 4-6 weeks total. This includes registration with My Aged Care (same day), scheduling your assessment (2-4 weeks), receiving your approval (within 2 weeks), and then starting services immediately. This is much faster than the old system!
Will RusCare help me with the My Aged Care process?
Yes! We provide comprehensive support throughout the entire My Aged Care process. We can help you register, prepare for your assessment, understand your results, and navigate all the paperwork. Our bilingual staff can explain everything in Russian or English, making the process much less overwhelming.
